My life has been what many people would describe as “hard” – I grew up in the inner city of Detroit, my parents were sometimes abusive, then they divorced when I was ten, I got good grades in school but I didn't fit in, I got pregnant when I was sixteen, I dropped out of high school, I married a drug dealer, My husband went to prison, I got divorced when my son was six, I had to go on welfare, I was a single mother, I struggled and went back to school, I turned my life around, I had a good job, I realized that the life that I was living wasn't me, I felt trapped, I tried to discover the answer, It eluded me, I became unhappy, My personal relationships didn't last, I got depressed, My only child committed suicide… THEN IT HAPPENED!
